The Executive board has made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the July General Membership Meeting that was scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2020. For a while it appeared that the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic was behind us, however statistics now tell us that the opening up of businesses coupled with a high number of people who refuse to follow simple common sense safety practices such as maintaining appropriate social distances and wearing masks to mitigate the spread of the virus to others, has caused the number of Covid-19 cases in North Carolina to begin to rise at an alarming rate.
Because of this rise in cases, the Officers and Executive Board of Local 238 do not feel that holding a full membership meeting at this time is in the best interest of our local union members, their families, or our community. The Executive Board will meet at their regular time on Saturday, July 18, 2020, to meet the obligations of our By-Laws and Constitution, and handle the monthly business and bills.
If you have specific issues that you feel cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled membership meeting, please speak with your steward or call the union hall for guidance. Hopefully, the uptick in Covid-19 cases will be short and we will be able to hold a meeting in August.
Stay safe, practice social distancing, wear your mask, and wash your hands. It's not too much to ask if it could keep your Brother or Sister safe, is it?
